  8. This Readme file contains up-to-date information about 
  9. the Canon Camera PTP TWAIN Driver. Please read this file before 
  10. using this driver for the first time.

  13. Issues with the TWAIN Driver:
  14.  
  15. The TWAIN standard is regularly updated, and software development 
  16. companies incorporate these changes in their new applications. 
  17. However, problems may occur if the application does not fully 
  18. support the TWAIN standard.
  19. In order to ensure that users can use our software without any 
  20. problems, Canon works closely with a number of software 
  21. development companies to solve these problems.

  34. 1. Problems that may occur when using some chips for display cards 
  35.  
  36. If you start TWAIN driver from TWAIN driver-compatible applications 
  37. (such as ArcSoft PhotoStudio), operation of TWAIN driver may unstable 
  38. using some IC chips for display. 
  39. If this happens, use the [dispinit.exe] fix program.  It is in 
  40. [TROUBLESHOOT/DISPINIT] folder on the SOLUTION DISK.
  41. You have to run the [dispinit.exe] fix program every time you start a 
  42. computer. If you register [dispinit.exe] short cut as a Windows startup 
  43. program, you can run the program automatically every time the computer 
  44. starts up.

  47. 2. RAW images and movie files
  48.  
  49. You cannot view thumbnail images of RAW images and movie images 
  50. using this driver.
  51. You should therefore always check the contents of a memory card 
  52. before formatting it.

  55. 3. Compatibility issues
  56.  
  57. After testing many TWAIN-compatible applications and operating 
  58. environments, we have identified the following compatibility 
  59. problem.

  61. The maximum amount of images that can be transferred to 
  62. Photoshop 5.0 LE in one go is 30.

  65. 4. Communication between Canon Camera PTP TWAIN Driver and the 
  66. camera
  67.  
  68. (1) When opened, the driver will periodically communicate with a 
  69. camera that is connected to the computer. During communication 
  70. with the camera, do not operate any of the camera's switches, 
  71. remove the camera's memory card or battery, or unplug the 
  72. communication cable.
  73.     Depending on your computer's operating environment, doing any 
  74. of the above could result in faulty operation of your computer.
  75.     You should therefore close the driver before doing any of the 
  76. above.

  78. (2) Do not put your computer into standby mode or hibernation 
  79. mode while the camera is connected to the computer's USB port.
  80.     If you have accidentally put your computer into standby or 
  81. hibernation mode while the camera is still connected to the 
  82. computer's USB port, resume from standby or hibernation mode with 
  83. the cable still plugged in.
  84.     If you pull out the cable while still in standby or 
  85. hibernation mode, you may not be able to resume correctly from 
  86. standby or hibernation mode, depending on the computer model. 
  87. Please refer to your computer's manual for more details about 
  88. standby mode and hibernation mode.

  91. 5. Issue with Installation
  92.  
  93. When installing this driver, the install may not complete 
  94. successfully if you select a root drive, such as the c:\ drive, 
  95. or an existing folder as the installation destination folder.
  96. In this case, uninstall and install again selecting create a new 
  97. folder.
